Thanks for stopping by to check out yet another blog, or photo-blog, or just pblog for short.
As you probably know, Carrie and I are about to embark on an extended bicycling trip in New Zealand (only five more days!). This pblog will serve as a place to read about our adventures, and when you get bored of reading, this pblog will also serve as a place to look at lots of photos of Carrie posing in front of neat backgrounds.
However there's plenty to do before we take off. You'd think that we'd be spending the precious daylight hours riding our bikes, getting conditioned. But it's amazing how many questions need answering before one leaves the country for three months. Questions like: Where's all of our mail going to go while we're gone? and Where's the car going to sit while we're gone? and Why does the stupid phone company want to charge me for breaking a stupid contract I never agreed to in the first place? The questions are many and varied, but as the day we leave nears, we hope to find all of the best answers.
I'd also like to help you navigate this site a little. Above those crazy kids is the menu list that directs you to other informational pages at Gone South. The HOME button will link you to the most current entry. The ABOUT page gives a brief summary of our trip. Our PACKLIST is pretty self-explanatory. What I'm most excited about is the MAP. The plan is that visitors can see our route as we go and can click on different places on the map to link to our corresponding pblog entries. That way if you're curious about our experiences in a particular area we pass through, you'll be directed to the specific entry without the need for flipping through scads of entries you could care less about. This took me a bit to figure out because I'm only versed in XHTML and CSS. Let's hope it works. Finally, on the CONTACT page, you can get our email addresses and also sign up for email updates.
The other way to navigate the site is to use the calendar on the left. The underlined dates will link you to that day's entry. You can also quickly cycle through the entires with the arrow buttons above the calendar. The little diamond in between will link you to the most recent entry.
Well, that about wraps up the first entry. If you're having trouble viewing anything on the site, or if you'd like to give some constructive criticism, please let me know.
